QBCBC 34: Icehouse

The Quest for the Best Cheap Beer in a Can continues, episode 34: Icehouse. The QBCBC archive is here.

Icehouse was the beer of my youth. When I moved into my first house away from my parents, my roommates and I drank so much icehouse we made a throne in the garage with all the empty cases. It was pretty fucking sweet.

% Alcohol: 5.5

Price: $5.39/6 16 oz. cans = $0.67/12 oz. can

Punch: 5.5%/$0.67=8.21

Color: Like a very light lager.

Aroma: Has virtually no aroma. Which seems to be common in ice-brewed beers.

First Sip: A mix of a slight sweetness and obscure hint of caramel. A little crisp bitterness to it.

Aftertaste: Very little aftertaste, no lingering bitterness. But lacks the distinct cheap beer watered-downness at least.

Overall: Its obvious why this was my adolescent beer of choice. It has a respectable alcohol content and cheap, an ideal DrunkSci beer. Its lack of strong taste makes it a poundable one at that. Its not a great beer, but this should be a no brainer at the quick stop if need to decide between this and some shit like Bud Light or Miller… like DUH!

Score: 5/10
