QBCBC 32: Foster’s Lager

The Quest for the Best Cheap Beer in a Can continues, episode 32: Foster’s Lager. The QBCBC archive is here.

This is supposed to Australian for beer apparently. Funny, when I was traveling round Oz in my youth, never drank a Foster’s, but consumed XXXX and Victoria Bitter mostly.

% Alcohol: 5.25

Price: $2.49/25.4 oz. can = $1.18/12 oz. can

Punch: 5.25%/$1.18=4.46

Color: Very lagery, keeps a nice head on it, doesn’t fizzle out like most cheap beers.

Aroma: Slightly sweet and floral.

First Sip: Sort of “crunchy”, reminds me of a tiny hint of something like pear or apple. Tasty otherwise.

Aftertaste: Only a slight aftertaste, nothing lingering. An even bitterness on the back of the tongue.

Overall: Surprisingly, I really liked it. A decent general beer to have around. Reminds me a bit of Schaefer or Schlitz, maybe with slightly more flavor even.

Score: 7.5/10
