QBCBC 31: Guinness Draught

The Quest for the Best Cheap Beer in a Can continues, episode 31: Guinness Draught. The QBCBC archive is here.

I won’t lie. I FUCKING LOVE GUINNESS!!!!!!!!!!!! Sadly though, I have indeed had in Ireland and it very true. MUCH better from the keg tap over there than canned with a widget inside it.

% Alcohol: 4.0

Price: $14.99/8 14.9 oz. cans = $1.51/12 oz. can

Punch: 4.0%/$1.51=2.65

Color: Black, like death, chocolate, coffee and your godless aching soul. But with a fine head about a quarter of an inch deep.

Aroma: Smokey, and like a puppy-unicorn-rainbow-jeebus hybrid of sunshine

First Sip: Oat-y, real smokey, overtones of caramel

Aftertaste: the caramel comes out in the aftertaste and lingers for a couple seconds.

Overall: Its good, quite nice in fact. BUT its not as good as in Ireland from the keg tap. In fact, as a stout, I’ve had better from american microbrews. Its not to say Guinness isn’t good, its great, but it is different from the can with the widget thingamajigger in it.

Score: 8/10
