The Quest for the Best Cheap Beer in a Can continues, episode 22: Natural Ice. The QBCBC archive is here.
Natural Ice, affectionately referred to by the bourgeois as “Natty Ice”. Its “ice-brewed for a naturally smooth taste.” Ha! You see that, a little play on the name. Wow. keep it smooth dawgs.
% Alcohol: 5.9
Price: $1.39/24 oz can = $0.70/12 oz. can
Color: Yellow, like the snow would be after drinking a case of this shit, if I had snow where I live. Which I don’t.
Aroma: Definitely a bit of hops and citrus in there. Actually smells like a proper lager.
First Sip: Has a bright bitterness on the attack. It does have some flavor though. Its not bad but hard to place. I want to say birchy, but I don’t even know what the fuck that means!
Aftertaste: The initial taste stays with you for the aftertaste. It doesn’t really evolve or develop. The hallmark of a slammable beer.
Overall: I am fairly pleased with it surprisingly. Is the best cheap beer in a can i’ve had? Hell Fuck No. but you know, it really isn’t terrible. It belongs in the middle tier of cheap beers in a can. It compares to Yuengling in my mind but with a bit more hoppiness to it even.
