QBCBC 17: Tecate

The Quest for the Best Cheap Beer in a Can continues, episode 17: Tecate. The QBCBC archive is here.

A mexican staple, let’s see how it stacks up to our American standards.

% Alcohol: 4.5

Price: $1.99/24 oz can = $1.00/12 oz. can

Punch: 4.5%/$1.00=4.5

Color: Surprisingly amber.

Aroma: A slight bit of hoppiness to it.

First Sip: A nice bit of flavor to it. Can definitely taste some hops. Not very offensive at all. Quite more pleasant than equivalent American beers, such as Budweiser.

Aftertaste: A little bitter. Also, a little cornstarchy on the back of the tongue. Only noticeable though when I really taste it, not there so much when I’m pounding it down.

Overall: A solid cheap beer in a can. Not offensive to the palate. I would rate it midway with Schlitz and Schaeffer. While it isn’t the type that gives me the ‘O’ face, I am not at all opposed to slamming a few of these down the hatch while waiting for the PCR to finish.

Score: 6/1o
