The Quest for the Best Cheap Beer in a Can continues, episode 16: Genesee Beer. The QBCBC archive is here.
According to the canvertising this is “one great beer”, it feels like I’ve heard that one before.
% Alcohol: 5.0
Price: $1.09/24 oz can = $0.55/12 oz. can
Color: light yellow, very lager-looking.
Aroma: A slight bit of hoppiness to it. Very slight to almost unnoticeable floral hint.
First Sip: Its like what Bud Light would taste like it it weren’t watered down.
Aftertaste: A weird sort of metallic bitterness to it.
Overall: I think they should change their canvertising from “one great taste” to “one great waste” or “at least we’re not Bud Light”. It actually isn’t terrible, especially for being ridiculously cheap at a buck for a 2 beer can. I’d get it for cheapness factor alone. But this beer has the taste and general feeling of ominousness that it will result in headaches and a rotten belly the next morning.
